The Wreck of the Delaware
One morning, in 1863 there was a girl called Huria. She was in bed and there was a terrible storm. Huria looked out to the Delaware boat. She saw the Delaware had crashed into the rocks. She ran out to the beach with her companions to save the crew of the Delaware. One of the crew said, “I will swim to shore,” but he crashed into the rocks. Huria swam to the boat and back to shore with the rope. The crew climbed across the rope. Huria and her companions got a gold or silver watch and that’s how the Delaware was wrecked.

How the Kiwi Lost its Wings.
A long time ago the kiwis didn’t live on the floor. Kiwis flew in the trees and sucked on flowers. But then the bad bugs came to eat the forest and they ate all of the plants. Then Tane Mahuta called all the birds to a meeting.
Tane Mahuta asked cuckoo. “No, I’m building a nest in the trees. I cannot leave it.” “Will you morepork?” “No, I love the light. I cannot leave it for thee forest floor.” Then will Tui? “I don’t know the enemies I will make.” “Then will you Pukeko help the forest?” “No. I like to keep my feet dry up in the trees.” “Will you Kiwi?” “Yes, I will.”
Then Tane said to all the birds “You all shall be punished. Cuckoo, you will lay your eggs in other birds’ nests and you Pukeko, you will live in the swamps. The you Tui. You shall have a white feather on your neck. Bellbird, you will sing only in the morning.” “Oh Kiwi, you’re so kind even though I have to take your wings and you have to live on the forest floor every day.”
And that’s how the Kiwi lost its wings.

Going to the pool.
On Saturday I went swimming with my sister and one of my friends came swimming too. But before we went swimming we climbed a tree.
